At Shanthiham, we believe that true healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens when entire communities are restored and able to celebrate life in all its wholeness. Our mission goes beyond addressing individual distress; it is focused on developing capacity and fulfilling mental health and psychosocial needs at the individual, family, and community levels throughout Sri Lanka.
For decades, Shanthiham has been a non-profit local NGO serving the northern and eastern regions of Sri Lanka. Our work is rooted in the belief that support must be comprehensive, especially for those in crisis and at risk of mental health problems.
We understand that psychological well-being is intrinsically linked to social and economic stability. That is why a core objective of our work is to ensure the well-being of individuals (children, women, and elders), families, and communities, and to make them economically empowered. By helping people achieve a greater sense of security and control over their lives, we address the root causes of distress and foster genuine resilience.
A healthy mind thrives in a healthy society. We collaborate with communities to improve their well-being by promoting active participation in decision-making processes. We strive to create a strong civil society by promoting diversity and building strong networks with both government and non-governmental partners. This participatory approach ensures that the support provided is relevant, lasting, and owned by the community itself.
Mental health is a collective journey. Join us in supporting a healed and restored community by volunteering, donating, or simply sharing our resources to help others find the support they need.
