Delivering Compassionate Care & Resilience

Our services are structured around four integrated pillars, ensuring holistic mental health and psychosocial support for the Northern and Eastern communities of Sri Lanka, particularly those affected by conflict and trauma.

1. Capacity Building & Training

We build sustainable capacity by developing local psychosocial expertise. This involves creating and delivering specialized training programs to professionals and community-based volunteers.

  • Counsellor Training: Long-term professional courses to certify psychosocial workers.
  • Community Trainer Programs (TOT): Training local individuals to lead resilience and mental health initiatives at the grassroots level.
  • Resource Creation: Publishing standardized manuals and handbooks on mental health interventions.
  • Target: Certified Counsellors, Teachers, Community Leaders, Local Volunteers.

2. Community Empowerment & PSS Networks

We establish decentralized PSS networks to empower communities to manage their own psychosocial well-being, fostering local resilience and support systems.

  • Core Groups (CGs): Networks of local volunteers acting as the primary source of community psychosocial support and resilience-building.
  • Self-Help & Livelihood Initiatives: Facilitating economic and social groups to promote shared well-being and stability among conflict-affected families.
  • Local Issue Management: CGs assist in resolving domestic violence, family disputes, and managing collective psychological distress.
  • Target: Community Members, Grassroots Volunteers, Families.

3. Direct Counselling and Trauma Support

We provide professional, confidential, and free psychological support services focused primarily on victims of conflict, torture, and post-war trauma.

  • Individual & Family Counselling: Specialized therapeutic interventions for mental health issues stemming from trauma.
  • Crisis Intervention: Immediate psychological first aid and support during acute distress.
  • Rights and Advocacy Support: Assisting marginalized individuals with legal and social issues (e.g., property disputes, access to resources).
  • Target: Victims of Conflict/Torture, Individuals with PTSD and Trauma-related distress.

4. Vulnerable Group Support

We offer specialized accompaniment and focused programs for high-risk populations facing compounded vulnerability due to conflict, economic challenges, and social injustice.

  • Women & Children: Dedicated workshops and programs focusing on psychological support and violence prevention.
  • Families of Missing Persons: Targeted emotional support and assistance with advocacy/documentation efforts.
  • Single-Headed Households: Assistance with livelihood development and psychosocial accompaniment for long-term stability.
  • Focus: Widows, victims of violence, and economically marginalized groups in the North and East.
