AHC-Shanthiham is a leading non-profit NGO, established in 1988, dedicated to mental health and psychosocial well-being.

We develop the capacity and fulfill the needs at the individual, family, and community level, ensuring well-being and economic empowerment for children, women, and elders.

Our Mission Focus:

  • Support for all, particularly those in crisis and at risk of mental health problems.
  • Empowerment free from poverty, illiteracy and social injustice.
  • Promotion of women and child rights and disability rights.

Our Primary Areas of Intervention

Building community resilience and providing direct, needs-based support.

1. Capacity Building & Training

Goal: Develop local expertise to sustain positive mental health practices. We train counsellors, psychosocial trainers, and community leaders, having published over 22 manuals.

2. Community Empowerment

Our “Core Groups” are self-empowered community volunteers who serve as the first line of support, managing local issues and significantly enhancing community resilience.

3. Counselling & Advocacy

We provide free individual and family counselling and actively advocate for the rights of marginalized groups, guiding them to resources to combat poverty and injustice.

For over 36 years, AHC-Shanthiham has maintained financial stability and strong governance, ensuring donor funds are utilized effectively and ethically.
